Personal Injury Money

You may be tempted to accept personal injury money from an insurance company as soon as it is offered to you, as it is a promise of quick cash. This may not be the best option in your case and in certain circumstances it may be wiser to obtain the services of an attorney.

When you are involved in an accident you may wonder whether you are entitled to personal injury money, and if so, how to obtain it. Whether you hire an attorney or accept an initial offer from an insurance company are issues that you should be concerned with.

When considering financial institutions, most insurers would rather settle with an injured plaintiff than spend the extra time and money in court. For this reason, if you have been in an accident and you are clearly not at fault, you will likely be offered a settlement up front. This may not always be the right option; the payment will probably be lower than what the damage is worth. It is advisable to negotiate a larger payment, and sometimes it may be worth your while to hire representation.

If you are unsure who is at fault, have been seriously injured or have been hit by an uninsured driver, it is recommended that you hire an attorney as soon as possible. In some cases, there may be a limited amount of time when you can take legal action against someone. Serious injuries include broken bones and internal injuries, as well as a host of other medical problems.

Finally, if you have minor injuries or none at all and there is no argument over fault, it may be easier for all involved to pay the damages and expenses and not hire an attorney. Depending on the particular circumstances surrounding your accident, you may or may not need the services of an attorney. When in doubt, it is a good idea to make an initial appointment for further guidance. The attorney will be able to better assess the damages and inform you of what you can expect from a fair settlement. You can then base your decisions on this initial consultation.
